Driving Positions

Marten has been providing superior time and temperature sensitive transportation services for more than half a century. We offer opportunities for Contractors, teams and company drivers. We also have dedicated and regional positions and offer lease-purchase and small fleet programs as well.

COMPANY DRIVERS 

To qualify as a company Driver, you should meet the following requirements:  

• Be at least 22 years of age

• Pass physical, road test and drug screen - (These take place during Orientation. Marten Transport, Ltd. covers all associated costs)

Compensation

Solo pay rate for company drivers with at least 1-year of driving experience is as follows:  

• $.36-$.39/mile - depending on experience

• Receive pay increase every six months

• Up to $.43/mile

Vacation

Benefit program includes paid time off for drivers. Vacation pay is determined by dividing annual earnings by 52 (weeks):

• Drivers receive one week paid time off after first year

• Two weeks from 2-7 years

• Three weeks from 8-14 years

• Four weeks from 15-19 years

• Five weeks after 20 years

Bonuses

Drivers can earn thousands of dollars in extra money annually by taking advantage of Marten's bonus programs.

• Quarterly safety bonus - $200 per quarter

• Referral bonus: Earn $1,000 per qualified driver who joins Marten

• Performance bonus: Company drivers at Marten Transport can earn an additional $500 per quarter by driving 30,000 miles or more. Team drivers must accumulate 60,000 miles or more within a quarter to be eligible for the bonus. This increase is equivalent to drivers earning an additional 1.66 cents per mile. Trainees are not eligible.

ADDITIONAL DRIVING OPPORTUNITIES

Advanced Driver Trainees (ADT)

Drivers with less than one year of driving experience or limited geographical experience can expect to spend a limited time with a trainer. Your trainer will determine when you are ready for your own truck. Depending upon your experience and ability, this can range from a few days to a few weeks.

Pay for this position is based on the following scale:

• $.29 - $.31 for drivers with 4-6 months of experience. During your evaluation period with our trainer, you will receive 2-3 weeks training at $500/week.

• $.30 - $.31 for drivers with over six months of experience. Length of training will be at trainer's discretion, at $500/week.

Students

Marten is now offering opportunities for new drivers who have graduated from an accredited school and have received the appropriate CDL certification. For more information about student opportunities call 1-800-395-3331.  

Teams 

Team Drivers are permanently assigned to a team of Fleet Managers, who run a fleet consisting only of teams. Marten Transport Ltd. has both Independent Contractors and Company Drivers running team. The team driver pay scale is as follows: 

• $.39/mile - one year experience

• Top pay to $.46/mile.

Dedicated Routes 

Marten has established lanes with a number of customers that allow drivers to be home more frequently. All dedicated openings are offered to our current fleet drivers first, on a seniority basis and depending on the proximity in which they live to the dedicated runs. Some of the companies that we haul dedicated freight for include Anheuser Busch, Procter & Gamble, General Mills and Nestle.  

Regional Routes 

Marten Transport runs regional routes based from Atlanta, Indianapolis and Los Angeles. We also have regional opportunities around the I-5 corridor and a Midwest Collaborative fleet. For more about these positions contact recruiting at 1-800-395-3331.
